Happy V-Day & Plastic Joy.

I hope everyone has a lovely valentine's day! I've decided to combine this well-wishing post with the Plastic Joy Award, since it is also romantic in nature. If you haven't heard of Plastic Joy, it is when you dedicate a post to 5 or more fictional gentlemen who you would like to... have romantic altercations with, I suppose one could say. Miss Glamoretta passed this award to all of her readers, so why not? Trust me, it was very fun looking up these pictures for the post... very fun. Enjoy! {p.s. click movie titles for trailers!}

1. James McAvoy as Robbie Turner in Atonement

Dreamy dreamy dreamy James McAvoy. Though Atonement made me clinically depressed and also homicidal after Briony, (if you've seen the movie perhaps you agree?), seeing James with his hair, captivating eyes, soldier garb, and AMAZING acting made it a lot better. You can't help but love him when you see what he goes through and how his love is torn from him in this movie.

2. Jim Sturgress as Jude in Across the Universe

Jim Sturgress's British accent in this movie, talking & SINGING, makes me weak at the knees. This musical is set during the Vietnam War and they sing Beatles songs throughout, and it is fantastic. Kind of trippy, but fantastic. His voice.... is amazing. And just look at his cute face and dark eyes.

3. Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy in Pride & Prejudice

This one is kind of obvious, I mean who doesn't love Mr. Darcy? Glamoretta had Matthew Macfadyen on her list and I could not agree more. He embodies tall, dark and handsome. And of course, he falls in love with Elizabeth, changes his disagreeable behavior and takes care of her. Plus, period dramas are my favorite. Director Joe Wright (also directed Atonement-- see above!) made this version so BEAUTIFUL and romantic.

4. Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network

Andrew Garfield- I'm obsessed! Poor Eduardo gets screwed over by Mark Zuckerberg. In the movie he is so innocent, trying to be responsible and smart about creating Facebook, and Sean Parker and Mark just ruin him. Though it is assumed justice was made for him. Andrew is the cutest thing ever, and I can't WAIT for Spiderman. Him and Emma Stone will make a great couple I think!

5. Michael Sheen as David Frost in Frost/Nixon

I don't know what it is about Michael Sheen, since he has to be 20 years older than me, but I like him! I would be lying if I didn't say I saw and bought Frost/Nixon because he was in it. (Though I also love the 1960s and the culture behind it. The movie really was great.) There really wasn't even anything romantic in the movie, just a small love interest-but no matter! He kind of looks elvish and very British.. and I dig that. Sometimes you need an older man.

6. Lee Pace as Michael Pardue in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

His eyebrows are amazing. I have a very weird fetish with eyebrows, how his are big, thick and dark. (My boyfriend has very similar ones to Lee's- which is a good thing!) In Miss Pettigrew he fights for Delysia's love, since she dates multiple men, because his love is real and true. Though he is a poor piano player, and a VERY handsome one at that, he ends up with Amy Adams when she realizes she loves him too. It is the sweetest movie, and he is seriously attractive.

Is there a theme with my list? YES. It's quite obvious. They are all British, or play a British man (Lee Pace), have dark features: eyes, hair, etc., and are all good people in their movies. Like Robbie was victimized and torn from Cecylia, Jude is an innocent Brit caught up in the Vietnam War, Mr. Darcy changes and disregards social class for Elizabeth, Eduardo was trying to make Facebook fully succeed when he was secretly getting set up by his best friend, David Frost fought for justice for the American people, and Michael only wanted to win over his love.

Have you guys seen these movies/love these characters like I do? Do your own Plastic Joy, it was a blast!

  1. This is a very beautifully done list - and I'm not meaning the boys! Seriously, you have a very lovely layout here.

    But also, I have a sickening love for Lee Pace in "Pettigrew" as well as Jim Sturgess and Andrew Garfield (have you seen him in "Never Let Me Go"? It's really excellent - he's in it with Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan, so it's a dream cast)

    Melissa, Lee Pace quite literally takes my breath away with his attractiveness. And I watched & loved Pushing Daisies until they CANCELLED it! Ugh, I was so mad. But he was so so darling. And thank you! x
