Girl Crush: Emma Watson

I think it is officially time to do this blog post that I've wanted to do for a while. I have many girl crushes: fabulous women with great style whom I humbly admire. Emma Watson is my favorite. As most of you probably already know, she has become the breakout star of fashion this year (especially after cutting her hair off and having the most adorable, and I think, successful pixie cut I've seen so far.) But even before the fateful cut, she was the face of Burberry, designed and modeled a line for People Tree, and recently (as in yesterday!) announced via Twitter that she is going to be the new face of Lancôme! And due to this announcement, I think it's time to do a post dedicated to Emma's amazing style.

Emma has graced the cover of multiple magazines since her career began, so I've put together little montages of many magazine spreads she has done. Each has a different mood, theme and story. It was really great having the opportunity to be inspired again and again by Miss Watson. Enjoy!

Before we get started with the magazine spreads, here are photographs of Emma's 2010 Burberry campaign. Her make-up is very natural, (still looking for a make-up tutorial on YouTube of this look!), her hair looks soft and straight, and I love the crown molding-like design as the background. And of course, I adore the beautiful Burberry trench coats and plaid purses.

Elle UK's August 2009 issue had Emma as the cover star-- in a very different look from her usual natural, soft and elegant photos. Here she looks very high fashion, edgy and intense. (Here is her "behind the cover" video for this shoot. I always love watching those and pretending I actually work with the magazine and was there. Which sounds a little sad.) Do you all like this look on her? The eye make-up and hair is so fierce!

This is the first magazine spread I saw with Emma's new haircut. Her eyes look fantastically huge with the pixie! But she has such perfect features for it-- the cheekbones and bold eyebrows. She really reminds me of Twiggy. The shoot here was very soft and natural, perfect for Emma, and very Marie Claire style. This was a great way to reveal her new look to the US-- through Marie Claire US. (& HERE is her MOVING cover & behind the scenes video!)

Emma looks stunning and so romantic in these photos for Vanity Fair. My absolute favorite photo from any shoot she has done, or that I've seen so far, is the one in the top right corner. It is so romantic and timeless. The draping textures and gathered, floral bunches are like modern princess dresses-- especially the bottom one. It's like she ran outside to meet her prince who is coming, atop a horse of course, to rescue her. I am a softie.

Emma, looking oh so couture, for Vogue Italia. She is Italian royalty in this photo shoot, first bathing with fine jewels on, eating from an elegant Italian buffet, then trying on her long, couture dresses in her room. It's like a day in the life of royalty! It's amazing how many looks she can pull off-- she is very modelesque.

One of my favorites, Emma on the cover of Vogue UK, who did a VERY interesting cover design for her photo! It fits so well with the "Stardust" plug, plus the fact that she is a wizard in Harry Potter. Then for the inside photos the looks are very classic. They're clear, ladylike, yet modern. I really enjoy the black and white photos, then some with a red tinge. The high contrast works amazingly with her strong facial features.

Inside spread for Emma's Vogue UK story. Don't her eyes look so doe-like and beautiful?

A fun photo and lovely quote from Vogue UK.

VS Magazine had Emma looking very high fashion in a rock star/party girl kind of way. She even looks sexy, almost provocative as she licks her fingers while eating a cupcake, wearing a sheer cover over lingerie-looking pieces and a bold, black smokey eye. But she looks fun and cool-- like a rock 'n roll goddess. My favorite of the bunch is the very last bottom photo. I love the smudged shiny black eyeliner and the large pink pearls. Plus the quality and general look of the photographs are very edgy and sharp.

Then lastly, here is a slideshow of Emma's street style which is where we can get a real grasp of her true style. Pretty much it's classic, very British, minimalist and chic. If you want to dress like Emma Watson, you will need many trench coats, natural make-up, skinny jeans, stripes, flats & Ray Bans. Trust me, I'm working on my wardrobe right now!

I hope you all liked this post that took much research and photo searching & editing! Needless to say, I feel pretty creepy and stalkerish now, but all in the name of Eloise! Not only Emma's style, but her personality, charm and sweet-nature really inspires me and I really do look up to her.

Have a lovely week!
