The Hollywood Issue 2012.

Can you believe it, one year ago yesterday I was doing this exact same post on the same magazine for the exact same issue. I mean, it's not that cosmic and exciting because it is Vanity Fair's annual Hollywood Issue, but it's exciting for me! One whole year of blogging, I still can't get over it.

Let's compare and contrast for a moment, shall we? Last year's magazine was shot by Norman Jean Roy, and boy did I love that cover. It was beautiful, dark, the setting was perfect and had so many different things to look at. Obviously the concept has continued with this issue, shot by the great Mario Testino, except we only see women here and no special attempt to get any current Oscar nominees unfortunately. (Besides Rooney Mara and Jessica Chastain). I don't know why I'm finding myself so disappointed with the lack of men here. Maybe because it's just so nice seeing good-looking men dressed in their finest, what can I say. And although the wardrobe and commitment to old Hollywood glamour here is absolutely stunning, I can barely recognize a single face in the bunch. Jennifer Lawrence, Mia Wasikowska, Lily Collins... the costuming is too good. Can't recognize a soul at first glance.

But what am I doing, I'm not here to criticize. I'm here to celebrate! As a stated in my post one year ago, I love the movies. Cinema, visual storytelling, amazing acting, I love it all. Here is a short behind the scenes video of the shoot: no talking, less entertaining then last year, but lovely nonetheless...

There are more videos on vanity fair's website, so check them out to see one-on-one interviews. And to keep with traditions, lets take a look at some of the Oscar nominees and the shoots they have done with Vanity Fair:

Best Actor Nominee: Brad Pitt, Moneyball (Dec. 2001 issue)

Best Supporting Actress Nominee: Jessica Chastain, The Help (Dec. 2009 issue)

Best Actress Nominee: Meryl Streep, The Iron Lady (Jan. 2010 issue)

Best Actor Nominee: George Clooney, The Descendants (Nov. 2006 issue)

Best Supporting Actor Nominee: Jonah Hill, Moneyball (April 2009 issue) If you haven't seen what they're spoofing... please look here.

And there you have it! There weren't as many Vanity Fair photos of nominees that I would have liked, unfortunately.
Are you ready for the Oscars on the 26th? Or the movies that will be coming out in 2012? Hello Hunger Games! Also, The Avengers, the next Batman movie and Spiderman... (apparently I like big, franchise movies...) What movies are you excited to see this year?
