Fringe

I've been growing my hair out for a while now, and I really love my long hair. But I felt like I needed something extra, something cool, edgy and a little bit rock n' roll. I felt like I wasn't really the long, flowing princess hair type of girl, so I thought I'd get some bangs.

I've always wanted bangs but never thought I could pull them off (ever since middle school/high school when I did have bangs, but had no clue how to style them). So I was a little bit scared to say the least. But I went to an awesome hairdresser who guided me and gave me the encouragement to do it! I'm so happy I did too. They give my look an extra edge, whether I style my hair down, curly, straight, messy, or in an updo. Although they do take more maintenance, I think it's worth it.

My celebrity girl crushes with bangs include the following-- I want to be like them, obviously:

Daisy Lowe
Krysten Ritter

Lily Allen

Clémence Poésy

Zooey Deschanel
Although I love all these girls, the inspiration behind my bangs, and what MADE me actually call the salon and make an appointment, was Katy Perry in her video for "The One That Got Away." Not when she was an old lady of course, but when she is a young artist, living with her adorable bf, sleeping in vintage pink cocktail dresses and rocking her messy dark hair with bold bangs. I fell in love with her hair (and yes... her lifestyle) in this video.

And in case you're thinking about getting bangs, here are a few more looks. Yes, I had too much fun on Photo Booth. I couldn't stop. Also, awesome blogger Alexis from Dolly Rocker Girl just got bangs herself. Check out her new look-- I love it!

  3. This is very cute! I think it adds a lot of character instead of looking cookie cutter. And it frames your face nicely!
