GENTLEMEN

Why am I so obsessed with menswear? I don't know. It just looks nice, doesn't it? It's pleasing to the eye, seeing a sharply dressed man. Plus, after watching so much Downton Abbey, I can see it reminds me of the past, and I've always enjoyed history. It's always been a favorite subject in school. You know what I mean though--like the 18th-early 20th century men who always wore suits and actually took pleasure in looking nice. Yes, Lord Grantham had a valet, so that made things easier-- when you have someone to dress you (and being filthy rich), but even the lower class gents wore their button-ups, trousers and caps. I mean, I just get excited when I see a dude wearing dark wash jeans.

I believe it's a fact that girls love guys that dress well and have their own personal sense of style. It shows they care, that they're put together and confident. I mean, half the reason Ryan Gosling is so big now is because of his impeccable personal wardrobe. (Not just with girls either-- he's been a regular style crush in GQ and Esquire for some time now!)

US versus UK: Magazine Covers, April 2012

1. VOGUE
Vogue US: I've been studying Medieval and Renaissance art in class lately, and this cover reminds me of a dramatic painting from that time period. It's something about the quality of the photo, the wonderfully Vogue-photoshopped features of J-Lo, and movement of the dress that make it look like a painted masterpiece. The theme of placing the celebrity in front of the ocean has continued, but once again I won't complain since I love the sea. This cover is picture perfect for me, and the consistent shades of red work perfectly.

Vogue UK: I think this design is fresh, the colors are very summery, but there is something a little awkward about her pose, with her mouth being agape and looking straight into the camera.

WINNER: Vogue US.
